Invest in yourself, your health, and your mind.
Made it to the beach today for the first time since I moved to LA a month ago. __ Why it took me so long I do not know. I was actually running some errands after work when I realized how close I was on the map. So I decided to take a detour, kick my shoes off and walk along the water instead of checking off all the things on my to-do list. I soaked my jeans all the way to the knees and drove home barefoot bc I couldn't stand the idea of putting my socks back on. __ But it felt great, and it was just what I needed. Sometimes I think we all need to allow spontaneity to show up in our lives more. How nice is it to relax into the idea of being instead of always doing for a change.
"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." - Howard Thurman __ Come alive. If something sparks your curiosity and your interests go towards it. Go with all of your enthusiasm. Give it your undivided attention. Because the world needs more passion now than ever before. The world needs more of you. __ Photo by @alphafoodie (bc I'm currently working at a coffee shop and dreaming about running barefoot through fields of pink flowers instead 😉)
Making a lot of changes lately, to myself and to this account, and as of today I'm retiring the name ohlovequotes for @life.by.design. New life. 🙌🏼 __ I just finished listening to Greg McKeown's book on Essentialism (for the second time) and an excerpt from it really resonated with me. So much that when I went to write it in my notes app, I realized I had already added it the first time around.⠀ __ Greg states: "We need space to escape in order to discern the essential few from the trivial many. Unfortunately, in our time-starved era we don’t get that space by default — only by design." (hmm...sounds familiar 🤔)⠀ ⠀ • Space to design – where can you go to escape from distractions so you can create the space you need to think.⠀ ⠀ • Space to concentrate – when can you schedule time into your calendar for thinking about big picture stuff and all the things going on inside your head? Taking time out to do nothing but think can be extremely beneficial.⠀ ⠀ • Space to read – when can you schedule time for reading fictional for-fun novels (not blogs, nonfiction books, or the latest news). __ Create some space in your life, get clear on what matters most, and live a life by your own design.
